Old Florida II
This home was a renovation project that Dooley Construction designed as a partner in a speculation group. We created a corporation, and operated under the name of Old Florida Restorations. We renovated three properties on Millionaires Row from 1987 to 1993. The company was then dissolved in 1993 after Hurricane Andrew.
This project started with a 1,200 sq. ft. existing residence on two acres of ocean front property. We took the existing house down to the first elevated floor slab. That became the living room in a 10,000 sq. ft. addition. Dooley Construction designed all the column brackets, wood shutters, dormers, railings and grid work to replicate the Old Florida architecture.
We have renovated this same house several times since for several different owners. We are currently in the process of working on a design to renovate the neighboring, five-acre property for the present owners as well.
Old Florida II was the largest single family home in Islamorada for quite some time, and has weathered nicely-truly standing the test of time.
