About Dooley Construction
Mike Dooley was born and raised in Miami and grew up in a family focused on the construction / development industry. Mike's parents moved to Miami in the early 40's and opened Dooley Real Estate in 1953. Involved in many projects over the years, Dooley Realty was, for example, instrumental in the development of the Hammock Community of Devonwood on Old Culter Road and Ludlum. Dooley Realty's headquarters can still be found today in its original location at S.W. 124th Street and US 1.
In 1965, Mike's parents bought a home on the ocean in Lower Matecumbe, which they still own today. Growing up in the Keys-fishing and diving-Mike always knew where his home would be. After graduating from Columbus High School, Mike attended Florida State University, where he met his wife of 27 years. In 1973, they moved permanently to Long Key.
After building homes from Ocean Reef to Key West for other builders, Mike received his contractor's license for Monroe County and the State of Florida in 1980. In total, Mike Dooley has now been building homes, additions and commercial buildings in the Keys for 31 years.
Mike has seen hundreds of builders come and go over those years. As a result of his personal and professional values, Dooley Construction is now the largest contractor in the Upper Keys, with over 50 full-time craftsmen, not including subcontractors and vendors. Much of the firm's success and longevity can be attributed to quality control, speedy, but efficienct completion times, and the personal commitment which is dedicated to each job. Mike has also witnessed many changes in the Keys and in Keys-construction over those 31 years. The building and planning issues, for example, have become increasingly complex. As a result, Dooley Construction has developed a very experienced permitting team personally to direct / assist customers with the details of local and state building codes as governed by particular Village, county and State agencies.
Dooley Construction excells in all types and sizes of construction projects, but specializes in working with large estate properties. The firm also offers property management services to its customers exclusively.
